Earlier BBM was an exclusivity of BlackBerry but the time has changed giving a chance to other platform users to enjoy working with this application.

BlackBerry has already loaded this app on more than 20 million Android and iOS devices. It is expected that this number will rise once BBM for iOS is updated to allow Wi-Fi in only iPad and iPod Touch devices from Apple to access it.

According to Andrew Bocking, BBM Executive Vice President, the company does not have any plan to bring BBM service to tablets. He added that BlackBerry is still learning whether it would be beneficial to bring this messaging app to larger screens. For BlackBerry to bring a tablet oriented version of this app it requires to give a special value to the platform.

Well! The current application has already brought BBM support to the Apple iPad devices which are connected to 3G/4G networks. The way in which BBM works makes it perfectly suitable for non cellular connections and iPad’s sporting Wi-Fi connectivity only.

The users of these devise use PIN numbers for connecting to another BBM user instead of using phone numbers. Thus BBM is perfect for the devices that are Wi-Fi oriented and are not tied to a specific cellular phone number.
